Fingal Beach Surf Life Saving Club, established on the 23rd of August 1964, will be celebrating 60 years of keeping our Fingal Bay community safe in the water this coming August!
The club, situated right across the road from our Seaside Holiday Resort, was originally proposed to be placed at nearby Zenith Beach, however, the managers of Seaside Holiday Resort (previously known as the Fingal Bay Holiday Centre) at the time showed their support for the Surf Club to be instead situated in Fingal Bay due to the popularity of Fingal Bay's incredible beach and the high number of holiday goers at the time.
Seaside Holiday Resort's history with the club doesn't end there, in 1969, Seaside (then the Fingal Bay Holiday Centre) donated a surfboat named “Spirit of Eureka” from donations raised from the Federation of Community, Sporting and Worker's Clubs member clubs, as well as many other notable donations throughout the Surf Club's early years including those of a rescue vehicle and several training skis.
The Fingal Beach Surf Life Saving Club marks six decades of surf safety education, volunteer beach patrol and fostering community connections and spirit with a three-day celebration from Friday 23rd until Sunday 25th August 2024.
